Karni warns of US plan against Canada

The article discusses Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's warning to the residents of Alberta regarding the upcoming referendum in the province on secession. He emphasized that the timing of the vote is inappropriate and poses a threat to national unity. Carney explained that although the referendum does not directly aim for independence, it raises risks of deep division and years of uncertainty. It comes amid escalating tensions with the United States, especially after Trump's threats to make Canada an American state. He also highlighted the importance of the province’s ties to Canada and its strategic projects, such as the "Pacific Link" pipeline, in defending the country’s unity. The vote coincides with a separatist movement that intensified after the COVID-19 pandemic and various protests. The final voting appointment is scheduled for Monday.
