Judiciary Condemns Taxi Killers

The Lebanese judiciary has brought the case of the Syrian brothers George and Michel Tannilian, known as "the Taxi Killers," to a close. After committing a series of murders in Mount Lebanon between 2011, the court issued its verdict, sentencing them to life imprisonment. The crimes were carried out with the intent of theft; they could have simply stolen the victims' money without killing them, but chose instead to kill ruthlessly and brutally, even though such violence was unnecessary. Investigations revealed that the stolen mobile phone of one of the victims was the key to locating them. A raid resulted in the seizure of the weapon used in the crimes, and their confessions provided detailed information that led to their conviction. The court sentenced them to life imprisonment without the possibility of reduction, describing their crimes as among the most savage, and emphasizing that the motive was trivial. After approximately 15 years of detention, the case was closed following their conviction for premeditated murder and theft, with the severest penalty of life imprisonment imposed.
