Germany donates 5M euros to support Lebanon

Germany has provided an additional 5 million euros to support the Lebanese Army and strengthen its capabilities to contribute to stability and recovery in Lebanon, bringing the total aid to 10 million euros. The funding is allocated to improve the living conditions of military personnel and their families through the provision of food, healthcare, education, and housing, as well as supplying the army with equipment for clearing debris and unexploded ordnance, supporting recovery efforts in affected areas. This support will continue until 2028, amid increasing responsibilities for the army and financial pressures, with more than 50,000 soldiers and their families expected to be displaced in 2026, and Lebanon entering a transitional phase following the decision to end the mandate of UNIFIL forces.
