Al-Fayed attack victims blame police neglect

The investigations reveal that survivors were subjected to sexual exploitation and abuse by the late Egyptian businessman Mohamed Fayed, the owner of Harrods in London, over a period of nearly two decades. The women affirm that they were victims of human trafficking and recount repeated cases of abuse and coercion, despite increasing complaints and efforts by British authorities that began after a televised program addressing the issue. Information indicates that the victims underwent forced examinations, and the British police were not fully up to expectations in handling the scale of the case, with 163 victims reported so far, though the actual number may be higher. Despite ongoing investigations, no charges have been brought against Fayed, as he passed away in 2023. The case remains linked to a widespread network of exploitation, with international cooperation with France to investigate allegations of misconduct in other locations.
