Lebanon Agriculture and Oil Firms to Support Apple Storage

The article discusses the efforts of the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture to support apple farmers during the 2026 season through a joint initiative with oil companies, aimed at reducing storage and marketing costs. An agreement has been reached to supply 225 barrels of diesel as an initial batch to operate apple refrigeration units, with ongoing efforts to secure an additional 300 barrels to boost the capacity of cold storage centers. Additionally, oil companies will purchase 100 tons of Lebanese apples and distribute them through fuel stations, creating a new channel for marketing the local product and encouraging its consumption. The ministry emphasizes that these initiatives contribute to supporting farmers and achieving sustainability in the apple sector, with a focus on improving export conditions and reducing costs to maintain national production.
