The National Pact: Lebanon's Unity Promise
The article emphasizes the need to restore Lebanon to a unified and consensual path through renewing the National Pact, which is considered the foundation of partnership among all its components. It highlights the importance of ensuring that Lebanon is a homeland for all its citizens and that the state upholds its sovereignty and authority, with full respect for the stature of religious communities, especially the Shia, and their historical role in building the nation. The article calls on all parties to review their positions and free themselves from external influence, reaffirming that weapons outside the state's authority are illegitimate and that decisions regarding war and peace should be exclusively made by its constitutional institutions. Its goal is to build a national consensus that restores trust and facilitates comprehensive reconciliation, thereby strengthening national unity and protecting Lebanon from foreign interference and internal collapse.
