US police halt planned attack on Illinois Hindu temple

The Chicago police have thwarted a planned mass attack involving a firearm aimed at a Hindu place of worship. A 19-year-old young man was arrested on suspicion of planning to target the largest Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois. Investigations revealed that the suspect intended to attack the temple with a weapon and ammunition. Authorities found an altered firearm, 300 rounds of ammunition, a manifesto containing extremist ideas and calls for violence against Indians and South Asians, as well as slogans promoting white supremacy. The investigation showed that the suspect was heading to the temple in the morning armed with a weapon and ammunition but retreated after his gun malfunctioned. The court ordered his detention without bail while investigations continue. Authorities confirmed that there are no current threats.
