Hormuz Strait Attacks Reach Highest Level

Security sources indicate a significant escalation in ship attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, with at least 10 vessels targeted since last Sunday—the highest level since the war against Iran began in February 2026. Four ships were attacked on Tuesday and six on Sunday, highlighting an increasing rate of assaults that have resulted in the death of two sailors and the sinking of a container ship. This escalation has also caused major disruptions to navigation in the strategic Gulf corridor. Iran began targeting vessels in March of this year in response to American and Israeli airstrikes, and since October, the number of attacks has risen to 23 incidents—doubling the previous monthly average—leading to rising tensions and impacting oil and commodity exports in the region.
