Attorney General refers Mowad to Government Commissioner

The Public Prosecutor for Cassation in Lebanon, Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, has referred a complaint against Lebanon's ambassador to Washington, Nada Mitwally, to the Government Commissioner at the Military Court, Judge Claude Ghanem. This matter has provoked American discontent, as a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department expressed concern over the military court handling a complaint related to the ambassador's participation in implementing the Lebanese government's policies and negotiations led by the United States. Judicial sources confirmed that the referral is a routine procedure, expecting the Government Commissioner to dismiss the complaint, especially due to the lack of evidence linking the ambassador to Israelis or any legal violations. It is also likely that the case will not progress to legal prosecution.
