MP Khalaf Discusses UNIFIL Role

MP Malham Khalaf emphasized the importance of the UNIFIL forces in Lebanon, despite some shortcomings, and called for their mandate to be amended to address these issues. He indicated that 330 UNIFIL soldiers have sacrificed their lives in Lebanon and contributed to drawing the Blue Line, removing bombs and unexploded ordnance. He warned against the withdrawal of forces without handing over their positions to the Lebanese Army, as this would deepen Israeli occupation and violate the United Nations Charter. He underlined the necessity of maintaining the UN umbrella to defend Lebanon, noting that 86 deputies supported this stance at the United Nations.
