Qatar PM to visit Beirut for regional talks
The upcoming visit of the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, to Beirut represents a significant political step that goes beyond traditional diplomatic relations. Its aim is to try to break the political and security deadlock in Lebanon. The visit will address important issues such as containing the escalation in southern Lebanon, establishing stability, and supporting efforts to halt escalation and tensions. In addition, discussions will include the possibility of Qatar participating in an international force alternative to UNIFIL. Qatar’s support for the economic sector will also be discussed, particularly through funding initiatives to repair gas pipelines and attract investments in the electricity sector, with the goal of improving living conditions and reducing tensions. The visit seeks to enhance Qatar’s role in mediating between Lebanese parties and to push forward solutions amid complex field and political realities.
