Salama Opens Project to Renovate 60 Municipal Libraries

Minister of Culture Ghassan Salame launched a project from the Sene El-Fil Library to rehabilitate approximately 60 municipal libraries across Lebanon, in partnership with the Norwegian Embassy and UNESCO. The goal is to revive the struggling public libraries that have been dormant since 2000. The project involves a thorough assessment of each library’s needs, such as providing computers, books, and cultural programs, with a focus on restoring the destroyed libraries in the south. This initiative aims to support cultural decentralization and facilitate access to culture and reading for people in Lebanese regions, while also enhancing the capabilities of staff and developing cultural and social services within the libraries. The objective is to transform them into lively spaces for learning and community engagement.
