Ministry Offers Free Mammograms for Women Over 40

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health has launched a nationwide awareness and early detection campaign for breast cancer in 2026, under the slogan: "Remind You of Everything... Remember It with the Mammogram." The campaign focuses on providing free mammogram screenings for women over 40 in all public hospitals throughout the year, aiming to improve early diagnosis and increase recovery rates. Minister Rakan Nassereddine emphasized that the program has become sustainable and now includes linking hospitals with primary care centers to ensure patient follow-up, with 80% of cases being detected at early stages—where recovery rates reach 80-90% with early diagnosis. The campaign also seeks to raise awareness among women about the importance of early screening, reduce the high costs of treatment through early detection, and decrease the prevalence of advanced cases.
