Military and political biography of Michel Aoun

The article discusses the military and political biography of General Michel Aoun, with a focus on the establishment of the "Defense Battalions" on the Baabda - Ain el-Rummana front. These battalions later evolved into the "Eighth Brigade" under his command, which represented a mixed sectarian unit considered one of the best armed and trained units in the Lebanese Army. Sources confirm that unifying the army through the formation of a mixed brigade aimed to strengthen national unity and prevent sectarian divisions. These units successfully fought on the front lines against the Palestinian Liberation Army without splitting apart. The importance of the army's cohesion in uniting the country and political leaders is also highlighted, despite geographic and sectarian divisions. Aoun emphasizes that his goals were related to unifying the armed forces and achieving the unity of Lebanon, drawing on his experiences and battles during the Lebanese Civil War.
