UN Consults Iran on Lebanon

The article discusses the efforts of the Lebanese government and international diplomats to maintain the presence of UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon after their mandate expires at the end of the year. The parliamentary delegation consultations involve discussions with the presidency and the parliamentary council, alongside calls from the international community to revisit Resolution 2790, as well as the preparation of a legal study on the future of the international force. France, with backing from Iran, is seeking to present a new approach for deploying security forces in the south cautiously, maintaining coordination with the Lebanese Army to prevent a security vacuum. Hezbollah rejects any force outside the UN framework. The discussions focus on balancing political understandings, the need for international support, and flexibility in the military deployment strategy to ensure regional stability.
