Olmert Reveals Golden Image Details
An article reveals details about the assassination of Imad Mughniyeh, Hezbollah's military commander, according to Ehud Olmert, the former Israeli Prime Minister. The book explains that Mossad obtained a private image of Mughniyeh 18 years ago, captured by its agents as he arrived in Damascus with his family, which helped locate him and carry out the assassination. It also mentions that the photograph dispelled rumors about Mughniyeh having undergone cosmetic surgery, confirming that such reports were false. Olmert clarified that the assassination involved a complex intelligence operation carried out unexpectedly, utilizing a car bomb that was parked near Mughniyeh's apartment. The operation was undertaken with the approval of former U.S. President George W. Bush, targeting only Mughniyeh. He pointed out that the tracking was not solely based on technology but also involved a series of coincidences, noting that most Israeli resources were focused on monitoring the Syrian nuclear reactor, which led to a revelation by Mossad agents. Olmert confirmed that the operation took place in Damascus in coordination with Israeli and American agents, without targeting other Syrian figures present at the site, such as General Muhammad Sulaiman and Qasem Soleimani. He also mentioned that subsequent operations targeted Sulaimani and Soleimani based on Israeli intelligence assessments and coordination with the United States.
