US expels Iranian UN delegation members

The U.S. State Department has reported that the United States has expelled two members of the Iranian delegation participating in the United Nations General Assembly meetings after it was found that they remained in New York after the Assembly's proceedings concluded. Washington had previously requested their departure, but they remained in the country, which compelled the U.S. to take the decision to expel them. They left either late at night or on Saturday morning, after the American government contacted the Iranian mission. This step comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, with the U.S. President indicating that talks with Iran are not currently underway, despite expectations of their resumption later.
