Ministry of Agriculture: Vegetable Seed Duty Exemption Approved

The Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture announced that the Council of Ministers approved the exemption of vegetable seeds from the 5% customs duties, in order to support farmers and reduce production costs. This comes amid Lebanon's continued importation of non-hybrid seed varieties such as tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelons, and carrots, which the agriculture sector relies on consistently. The decision aims to enhance the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, support food security, and improve the quality of Lebanese produce, as part of the ministry's efforts to ease the burden on farmers from the start of the crop cycle through to marketing and export.
