Support for Union with $20 in Lebanon

The Lebanese authorities have decided to require a medical certificate from the Medical Syndicate to obtain the "Sooq Book" for driver's license issuance. The cost of this certificate is $20, and it is handed over blank so the citizen can undergo a medical examination, for which additional fees are paid. This procedure has sparked dissatisfaction among citizens due to its high costs and the accumulated financial burden, as the requirements include fees for documents, authentication, photographs, and medical testing—further increasing transportation expenses and procedural burdens on the public. Critics emphasize the need to review and justify these fees, calling for more transparent and straightforward procedures, and they urge an assessment of the necessity and costs of the medical certificate to help alleviate the financial strain on citizens.
