Lebanon secures UN Torture Prevention seat

Lebanese candidate Dr. Sanaa Hamza has been elected to the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture for the 2027–2030 term during a vote held in Geneva. She received 76 votes out of 96 States Parties to the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention Against Torture, achieving the highest number of votes alongside Greece's candidate. The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its gratitude to the countries that supported the nomination and wishes Dr. Hamza success in her mission to strengthen efforts to prevent torture and protect human rights.
