The Public Relations Directorate at the National Social Security Fund announced the settlement of a significant portion of accumulated hospital claims from before 2024, totaling approximately 14 billion Lebanese pounds. This effort is part of ongoing efforts to reduce old files and settle outstanding dues. Additionally, General Director Muhammad Karky issued new decisions on September 30, 2026, which included granting financial advances to hospitals and doctors contracted with the fund, amounting to about 444 billion Lebanese pounds, to cover hospital expenses for insured individuals who received treatment at the fund’s expense. Since the beginning of the year, the total advances paid by the fund have reached around 5,200 billion pounds, equivalent to about 58 million dollars. Karky emphasized that the fund’s management is working to gradually adjust hospital payment rates within the available financial capabilities and urged hospitals and doctors to adhere to the established rates, avoiding unjustified additional charges on patients. He also mentioned that Social Security has prepared a study to increase family allowances, so that they become 3 million pounds per partner and 1.6 million pounds for each child up to five children, after issuing the necessary decree. The aim is to enhance trust among insured individuals and provide healthcare and social services amid the challenging economic circumstances.
