Will Sham and Aqaba become Iraq's oil routes

The article discusses Iraq's increasing efforts to diversify its oil export outlets away from the Strait of Hormuz due to regional tensions. This involves reviving old routes and developing new ones, such as Basra– Aqaba, Basra– Haditha– Baniyas, and Iraq– Syria, as well as the possibility of linking with the Turkish port of Ceyhan and Lebanon via Tripoli. These routes aim to reduce dependence on the most sensitive maritime corridor, with emphasis on the fact that the success of these projects depends on funding, security guarantees, and political agreements. Baghdad is seeking alternative options to ensure stable oil supplies, with expectations that the capacity of these new routes could reach 2.5 million barrels per day upon completion, while international discussions continue to support these initiatives.
