Lebanon's revival depends on trust sovereignty

The Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Nohad Machnouk emphasized that Lebanon faces three critical challenges: restoring the trust of its people following the financial collapse and the Beirut port explosion; reclaiming its national decision-making to ensure that only the state’s authority holds the decision-making power; and regaining full sovereignty over its territories from Israeli occupation, exercising complete control over its land with its institutions and resources, in accordance with the Taif Agreement and relevant international resolutions. He pointed out that restoring trust requires respecting international law, achieving justice regarding the wounds caused by the Beirut port explosion, implementing financial and administrative reforms, and Lebanon’s commitment to resisting Israeli efforts to diminish its land through Judaization. He also stressed that success in addressing these challenges depends on upholding Lebanon’s full sovereignty, activating institutional functions, and strengthening international relations to ensure stability and prosperity.
