Over 17,000 inspections and 836 violations in 2023

Since the beginning of the year until September 18, the Consumer Protection Directorate at the Lebanese Ministry of Economy and Trade has conducted 17,223 field inspections across various Lebanese territories. These efforts resulted in the issuance of 836 violation reports, including 463 reports concerning private electricity generators. The directorate received 1,678 consumer complaints through the electronic application, and responded to 180 of these complaints within one week. Additionally, 555 field inspections were carried out, leading to 50 violation reports. The ministry urged citizens to contact them via the application or the hotlines to report violations, in order to ensure oversight of product prices, food safety, and other matters.
