Constitutional Court Blocks Amnesty Law

The Constitutional Council in Lebanon issued a decision to suspend the implementation of Law No. 70/2026, which grants a general amnesty and exceptionally reduces the durations of certain sentences, due to a judicial appeal against it. After deliberations attended by all members except the ill judge, the council decided to inform the President of the Republic, the speakers of Parliament and the Government, and to publish the decision in the Official Gazette.
