Hospitals in Lebanon are facing a serious crisis that threatens patient safety and the continuity of care, due to the deteriorating economic situation and a shortage of cash flow, along with the failure to adjust tariffs to reflect the true costs. The Hospital Syndicate pointed out the erosion of its dues from the insurance entities and the rising operational costs, which are forcing hospitals to cease accepting non-urgent cases starting in October, except for emergencies, with patients being charged the difference. The syndicate also called for the prompt settlement of outstanding payments, shortening payment deadlines, increasing tariff rates, recovering the VAT amounts owed since 2021, or else they will be forced to completely halt some of their services.
