A new virus transmitted by ticks has been discovered in China, called "Long-Horned Asian Tick Nairovirus" (ALTNV). It causes influenza-like symptoms, as well as thrombocytopenia and hepatitis. Research indicates that this virus is present in areas where Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) occurs, and approximately 10.4% of patients exposed to tick bites are infected. Its symptoms resemble those of the flu, including fever, muscle aches, and fatigue, and it can lead to serious complications, especially when co-infected with other viruses such as DBV. Usually, care is supportive, and preventing tick bites through wearing long clothing, using insect repellents, and regularly inspecting the skin is recommended to prevent transmission.
