Lebanese Forces Alert on New Virus with Flu Symptoms

A new virus transmitted by ticks has been discovered in China, called "Long-Horned Asian Tick Nairovirus" (ALTNV). It causes influenza-like symptoms, as well as thrombocytopenia and hepatitis. Research indicates that this virus is present in areas where Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) occurs, and approximately 10.4% of patients exposed to tick bites are infected.
