Participants lost around 20% of their weight, and their episodes of apnea were significantly reduced. Researchers found that 42 to 50% of those affected were able to eliminate the condition, and weight loss is believed to be the main factor behind this improvement. However, the drug does not replace continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, which remain the primary treatment, especially in severe cases. The benefits of the medication are still uncertain after stopping its use, due to the possibility of weight regain.
