Lebanon Cement Shipment Inspection Issue

The Minister of Industry, Jo Essa El Khoury, issued a directive through a letter to the Director General of the Industrial Research Institute to conduct an immediate investigation into the employees involved in importing a shipment of cement through the Port of Tripoli for the benefit of Diyar El Ambar Metal, without subjecting it to the necessary tests. This was due to the use of a certificate that did not conform to the approved specifications, which allowed the imported cement to enter without the Institute’s approval. The minister also requested the withdrawal of the certificate and informed customs not to act on it, in order to safeguard public safety and prevent potential risks to buildings and constructions.
