The study discovered 14 new teeth belonging to five different species of extinct sharks, bringing the total number of identified species to at least seven. This includes two species reported for the first time in Egypt, with the "Scapanorhynchus" species featuring the most distinctive and recent needle-like teeth in the African fossil record. The morphological differences in the teeth suggest that these predators occupied similar environments but lived in different habitats; some thrived in waters near shores, while others favored the deep depths.
