Turkish Energy Minister Plans Oil and Gas Exploration in Syria

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced his country's readiness to cooperate with Damascus in oil and gas exploration in Syria. During a press conference in Damascus with Syrian Minister Mohammad Al-Bashir, he confirmed that private Turkish companies will conduct seismic surveys and exploratory drilling in Syrian land and maritime areas. He also indicated that a new infrastructure network is close to being launched to increase Syria's electricity transmission capacity to more than 800 megawatts.
