Lebanon shifts to Zahlé-style power distribution

Lebanon intends to implement a decentralized electricity distribution model based on dividing the country into regions, inspired by the experience of Zahleh, with the aim of improving electricity supply. The Regulatory Authority, in cooperation with the World Bank, conducted a study to determine the most suitable model, with the expectation of implementing this system by August 10, 2026. This approach aims to reduce reliance on centralized sources, achieve more efficient distribution, and lower bills that cost the state around $2.25 billion annually.
