Shahada Program to Train 10,000 Experts Annually

Lebanese State Minister for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Kamel Shadéh, confirmed that Lebanon possesses the talents and technical capabilities that qualify it to be among the leading regional countries in adopting artificial intelligence technologies. However, he emphasized that the country needs to complete reforms, strengthen digital governance, and develop its infrastructure. He pointed out that the "Nomo" program logged around 14,770 participants in just two months and aims to train 10,000 people annually in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science. He believes that investing in skills is the foundation for building a productive digital economy. Furthermore, Lebanon is working on digital transformation projects such as digitizing the land registry, developing the digital infrastructure for the Ministry of Finance and Customs, and launching digital identity. The country is also securing funding between $150 million and $300 million over five years to encourage investment in the digital economy. Shadéh noted that Lebanon's success in building a competitive digital economy is linked to stability, the rule of law, attracting investments, and improving the financial sector.
