Shahada: AI Central to Digital Republic
Organized by the Ministry of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence and the Civil Service Council, in collaboration with Microsoft, a training course was held for general managers in ministries and public administrations on the use of artificial intelligence tools, titled "Leadership Challenges in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." Minister Kamal Shhadeh emphasized the importance of the Digital Republic project launched by the President of the Republic, which aims to build a prosperous economy and improve government performance through reengineering public services and focusing on building digital databases, as data is the foundation for training AI agents. He pointed out that Lebanon ranks fifth in the Middle East in the spread of AI usage, despite limited financial capabilities, thanks to dedicated and educated human resources. He called for forward-looking thinking in the 2027 budget, stressing the importance of investing in technology and data protection through a dedicated draft law, which is currently being discussed with the European side. He clarified that the government will continue training and development programs, with plans to expand training and appoint ministry representatives to oversee the implementation of digitalization projects. He noted that this is just the beginning of a long journey of digital transformation.
