Probiotic Chewy Candy for Oral Health

A Japanese study has found that a chewy candy fortified with non-living bacteria called "postbiotics" may help improve gum health and reduce bleeding, especially in individuals with mild gingivitis. The research was conducted by the Tokyo Science Institute with 116 participants, half of whom consumed the candy twice daily for six weeks. The results showed that participants who used the candy experienced a reduction in gum bleeding from 17.6% to 12.3%, compared to the placebo group. It is believed that the non-living bacteria help restore the microbial balance in the mouth and decrease inflammation, while the chewing process is an important factor in enhancing treatment effectiveness.
