Tennessee governor stops executions after second failed lethal injection
Tennessee governor Bill Lee has paused all remaining executions for the year following an unsuccessful attempt to carry out Christa Gail Pike's lethal injection, during which she was found alive and taken to a hospital. Pike, scheduled to be the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years, survived after two doses of pentobarbital were administered, prompting a review of the state's execution procedures.
