China's 5G users top 1.3 billion

Official data released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show that the widespread adoption of 5G networks in China continues to grow rapidly during the first eight months of the year. By the end of August, the number of 5G base stations reached approximately 5.195 million, accounting for 39.7% of the total mobile network base stations. Additionally, 5G mobile phone subscriptions numbered 1.311 billion out of a total of 1.849 billion mobile subscriptions. The number of fixed broadband subscribers also increased to 704 million. Mobile data traffic rose by 17.3%, reaching 297.1 billion gigabytes.
