Arab Gas Pipeline in Syria Advances

The Syrian Petroleum Company has begun the implementation of the second part of the second phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline project in Syria. The pipeline stretches approximately 566 kilometers within Syrian territory, and the system is prepared to operate bidirectionally to increase its flexibility. The phase includes the construction of a gas compression station with an operational capacity of up to 11 million cubic meters per day, which can be increased in the future to 22 million cubic meters, along with an additional storage capacity estimated at around 8 million cubic meters. The project aims to improve network efficiency and increase its ability to accommodate additional quantities of gas, supporting Syria’s regional role in gas transit. It is also expected that Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon will resume cooperation to enhance gas transfer through the pipeline by 2026.
