ACWA Starts 2555MW from Tayyabah and Qassim Plants

Saudi Arabian company Acwa Power has announced the initial commercial operation of the units at Taiba 1 and Qassim 1 power plants, which are combined-cycle power generation facilities, with a total capacity of 2,555 MW out of the two phases' combined 3,830 MW. The units at both plants began commercial operation in September 2026. Taiba 1 has an installed capacity of 1,272 MW, while Qassim 1 reaches 1,283 MW. The financial impact is expected to be realized starting from the fourth quarter of 2026. Acwa holds a 40% stake in each project, utilizing combined-cycle gas technology. It is also the world's largest private water desalination company, with operations across several regions globally.
