Federal Nuclear Regulator Wins Award

The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation received the 2026 Innovation Award in the Artificial Intelligence category from the International Innovation Network, in recognition of its role in developing the "Smart Nuclear Safety Dashboard" system. This system employed AI technologies to enhance safety oversight at nuclear facilities, particularly in face of climate challenges and environmental changes. The AI system, developed in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, provides regulators with data on environmental conditions around the Barakah plant, such as sea level, temperature, air quality, and seismic activity. It is used to develop foresight models for climate risks and predict potential hazards, thereby supporting preventive measures. This achievement comes as part of national efforts to improve nuclear oversight, aligns with the UAE Vision 2031, and aims to protect communities and the environment from radiation risks and climate-related threats.
