Tunisia earns 1.6B dollars from olive oil

Tunisia experienced a record-breaking olive oil export season during the first nine months of 2025-2026, with exported quantities reaching 368,000 tons—an increase of 55.3% compared to the same period last year. Revenues also rose by 44.4% reaching 4.61 billion dinars (approximately 1.6 billion US dollars). Tunisia exported to more than 70 countries, with the European Union accounting for 57.1% of the quantities. Data showed that over 80% of the production is organic, with a focus on developing packaging and marketing. Despite the surge in exports, the majority of the oil is still shipped in bulk, which limits the added value domestically. Achieving added value through packaging and product branding remains a priority to strengthen the trade balance and bolster the sector.
