Saudi authority probes 2025 offerings

Sources to Bloomberg have revealed that the Saudi Capital Market Authority has requested domestic and foreign investment banks to review the mechanisms for pricing offerings and share distribution methods during 2025. This move comes after a sharp decline in the performance of newly listed companies' stocks, with six out of seven firms ending their first year of trading with losses averaging around 27%. Among these companies, "Intaj" and "United for Cardboard Industries" experienced the largest declines, approximately 51% and 50%, respectively, while "Masar" stock rose by 8%. Despite this, the total value of offerings remained relatively stable, as 13 companies collectively raised about 14.5 billion riyals in 2025, compared to 14.2 billion riyals in 2024. Trading volumes declined by approximately 30%, reaching 1.3 trillion riyals. The Capital Market Authority’s goal in reviewing pricing and allocation mechanisms is to understand the reasons behind the weak performance of stocks post-listing, boost investor confidence, and stabilize the market.
