Omani trade surplus rises 37% over five months

Oman's merchandise exports increased by 10.1% to reach $27.57 billion by the end of May 2026, and the trade balance surplus rose to $8.84 billion, representing a 37.2% growth compared to last year. The increase was mainly driven by an 8.4% rise in oil and gas exports to $17.69 billion, a 64% jump in re-exports to $2.6 billion, and a 1.5% growth in non-oil exports to $7.13 billion. Imports also grew by 0.8% to $18.78 billion, contributing to the expansion of the trade surplus. The United Arab Emirates remained the largest market for non-oil exports and re-exports, followed by Saudi Arabia and India in second and third place.
