Egypt advances logistics with Chad

Egypt's Minister of Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, discussed with the Ministers of Infrastructure and Transport of Chad ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of transportation, roads, and railways during the joint committee meetings held in N'Djamena. The minister emphasized the importance of the logistics corridor "Pernes – Aswan – Tushka – East Oweinat – Cyrene – N'Djamena – Douala" as a strategic project aimed at reducing cargo transit time between Egypt and Chad from approximately three months to just one week, thereby supporting trade and investments between the two countries. Both parties discussed establishing logistics zones in N'Djamena and Am Gress, enhancing railway projects and connecting them to seaports through Cameroon, as well as developing urban transportation in Chad and river transport on Lake Chad. They also agreed to continue training programs and knowledge exchange in the fields of roads and safety. Egypt has already begun implementing parts of the logistics corridor by developing roads leading to the border, while studies of the Chadian segment of the project are expected to be completed by October to facilitate the continuation of execution. The overall goal is to strengthen economic integration between Egypt, Chad, and Africa.
