Russia has imposed temporary restrictions on the crossing of poultry meat and its products coming from the European Union through its territory, starting from August 5th, in order to prevent the spread of animal diseases and protect consumers. The decision was made after the seizure of an illegal shipment of poultry by-products alleged to be of German origin, which entered through Poland using fake veterinary certificates and was on its way to Uzbekistan. An investigation revealed that the products were of unknown origin. Russia will allow the transit of shipments that had been approved before that date, and the restrictions will remain in place until investigations and discussions with the European Commission are completed to assess future measures.
