Riyadh Airlines, the new national carrier of Saudi Arabia, is considering purchasing between 25 and 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, in addition to converting most of its contractual options into firm purchases. The company has already requested up to 72 aircraft of this type in 2023, including 39 firm orders and 33 purchase options for later. An announcement is expected at the Farnborough Airshow next week. The airline launched its first commercial flights in June with two Boeing 787-9 aircraft, and plans to expand its fleet to over 180 planes, connecting Riyadh to more than 100 global destinations by 2030.
