Defense firm to use genetics for service dogs

Warhound, a defense-tech startup, announced it received $200 million in funding to develop genetically enhanced military working dogs through cloning and biotechnology. The company aims to reduce reliance on imported dogs, primarily from Europe, by breeding breeds like Belgian Malinois, German Shepherds, and Labradors domestically. The initiative plans to improve training success rates and equip dogs with advanced protective gear and military technology, with the first puppies expected in early 2027.
