Israeli forces detain and release US candidate in West Bank harvest

U.S. Democratic congressional candidate Brad Lander was detained briefly by Israeli forces while helping Palestinian farmers harvest olives in the West Bank. He was released hours later after it was confirmed he was a congressional candidate; other volunteers remain in custody. The incident occurred amid ongoing tensions and violence during the annual olive harvest, with the Israeli military citing security concerns for the detentions. Lander condemned the detention, asserting that harvesting olives is not a crime and criticizing Israeli restrictions on Palestinian land access.
