Laika's Wildwood Gets PG-13

Laika’s upcoming film “Wildwood,” opening October 23, 2026, is the studio’s first PG-13 animated feature, marking a departure from its typical family-friendly content. The stop-motion fantasy is rated for violence, thematic material, and other mature themes, aiming to appeal to teens, young adults, and older audiences while challenging industry assumptions about animation's audience limits. Its release is seen as a test for mature animation’s market viability and could influence future animated projects at other studios.
