California tribe opposes new hiking trail

Members of the Wailaki tribe in Northern California oppose the planned 307-mile Great Redwood Trail, which would cut through their ancestral graves. The trail, built along a defunct railway and supported by local officials and environmental groups, is being developed without the tribe's full consultation, raising concerns about cultural disrespect and access to their heritage sites. Despite some political support, the tribe questions the fairness of allowing outside access while they have limited access to their own land.
